Utilities set up & the DMV have never been so easy!

The DMV in Guam has a great set up. And I am not being sarcastic. We arrived around 8:15am and left around 9:15am with both of our Driver Licenses and Temporary Permits for our cars.  One hour for both of those tasks without an appointment. I was very impressed. It might be better than the AZ 3rd Party sites. I know, that is a big statement.

The DMV is organized in different stations: license application processing, ID photographer, vehicle registration and cashier. For the Driver License, you go to the application processing line with your completed application and wait for the next available staff member. There were two people working and they were quick. All they do is input the info in their system and make a photocopy. You are handed an invoice and instructed to go to the cashier. The cashier is about 100ft away. There were 4 cashiers available and all they do is process payments. Again, this was very quick. You take the stamped invoice to the photographer station to have your picture taken. In less than 5 minutes your drive license is ready to pick up.

We got in the Vehicle Registration line and waited for one of the 3 staff members in this station. The line was about 15 people long and was steadily moving. The paperwork is processed very quickly and  again, you are handed an invoice to take to the cashier. We were able to to walk right up to a cashier and get the receipt/stamped invoice. The receipt and stamped invoice are taken back to the registration station. You walk up to the front of the line and trade the stamped invoice for the registration permit. Staff were friendly, customers were helping other customers, people were smiling, and things moved smoothly and quickly; it was a great experience.

We are officially Guamanians! Now, we get to take advantage of all of the prices for locals on the island. I'm not exactly sure where or how that happens, but we'll find out.

Utilities set up was a breeze! You have to do it in person, but it took about 20 minutes and you are able to do Water and Power in the same location. Again, there were two stations: staff members tasked with inputting information and a cashier. We met with the Water staff member first and she set up our account and then we met with the Power staff member. We took both invoices to the cashier and paid both deposits. Done. Trash was in a different location, but nothing is very far in Guam. We walked in the office we were immediately assisted. In about 10 minutes, our trash and recycle account was set up. Now, we just need our belongings to arrive so we can move into this house!
